CopShock, Surviving Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Allen R. Kates, MFAW, BCECR, is a journalist whose contact with police
officers in the United States and Canada spans twenty-five years. Often specializing in
police subjects, he has written and produced television documentaries and current affairs
programs. In addition, he has written screenplays, newspaper stories and magazine
articles.
A writing coach, workshop instructor and trauma
lecturer, Allen has a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing (MFAW). He lives in
Tucson, Arizona, with his friend Sherry, four cats, one dog and two pet cows.
As a member of the American Society for Law Enforcement Training
(ASLET) and The American Academy of Experts in
Traumatic Stress (AAETS), Allen is committed to increasing awareness of traumatic stress
and improving intervention with survivors. He is Board Certified in Emergency Crisis
Response (BCECR) and listed in the Academy's National Registry.

**CopShock on television**
On July 17, 2001, the A&E Television Network broadcast a program featuring the book CopShock and its author, Allen R. Kates.
Titled "Cop Counselors," the 1-hour documentary appeared on the series "Investigative Reports" with host Bill Kurtis.
